Yield Management: Revenue benchmarking for public transport companies

Within the revenue benchmarking project initiated by BSL, German public transport companies of medium and large size from all over Germany were brought together with the aim of uncovering potentials to increase revenues. For this purpose, all typical main sources of income were investigated. The transport business analysis contained ticket strategy, price level, quality of transport systems, sales channel structures, ticket inspection. The presented concept of a systematic yield management at public transport companies provides an basis for the strategic changes necessary to improve the operation results.
