civity accompanies high-profile expert forum on the further development of bwtarif

On 15 October 2018, more than 100 representatives from politics, transport companies, networks and associations came together in Esslingen near Stuttgart to discuss the future development of bwtarif up until 2021. Beginning 9 December 2018, bwtarif, a standard fare for the entire federal state, will enable passengers to use the trains and buses of all 22 transport networks throughout Baden-Württemberg with just a single ticket.

Following an introduction by Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann (Greens) and Thomas Balser, Managing Director of BW-Tarif GmbH, consultants from civity and Intraplan gave their expert opinion on how bwtarif can be developed further: Frank Schäfer (Intraplan) spoke on the subject of fares/time tickets, Jens Gertsen (civity) on sales aspects and Tarik Shah (civity) on the matter of a single public transport customer hotline and mobility guarantee for the entire federal state. Dr. Arne Beck (civity) added technical comments on the subject of organisation in the concluding panel discussion.

As part of a World Café, all the participants were then able to contribute their ideas for the further development of bwtarif. Intense discussions in alternating groups addressed specific issues relating to fares, sales and customer service.

Tarik Shah, project manager at civity, comments on this: “The expert forum showed just how important it is to involve all stakeholders at an early stage. The many very concrete and good ideas that have arisen as a result of this are now being documented and can be integrated into the further development of bwtarif.”

Since 2013, civity along with Intraplan has been extensively involved in the conception and design of bwtarif, both in project management and in content and technical design. In this context, we work closely with BW-Tarif GmbH and its shareholders.
