On the road to full automation – Why the adaptation to GoA 4 is not always a good choice
The Asia-Pacific Railway Innovations Forum is hosted jointly by the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines this year. From the 21st to 24th of May, relevant industry trends as well as necessary steps for positive future development are discussed by decision makers, experts and other actors.
As part of the topic on “Signalling & Train Control Systems Solutions” Friedemann Brockmeyer is sharing current findings on the necessity for automation within rail transport or in some cases the lack thereof. In his presentation titled ‚Automatic train operations in railways‘, he answers two valuable questions: When is it sensible for a (public) transport provider to automate its trains and track? And which aspects have to be considered and evaluate in order to come to this conclusion?
In addition to his presentation Mr Brockmeyer will lead through one of the topics as Session Chair.
