Lecture: Water tariffs – where are we heading?

The decline in water consumption poses a great challenge for the water supply industry, not just with regard to engineering. As the share of fixed costs is high, declining volumes will in the medium term inevitably result in price increases.

The situation is made worse by the upcoming demographic and industrial changes which will pose a great challenge in particular for the Ruhr area. What tariff models do exist? How can tariff models be designed which are future-proof and can overcome the demographic challenge? What goals can be achieved with a tariff model, and which not? In her lecture, Anna Wallbrecht presents possible approaches.
