Revenues under pressure
Comparing the sustainability of tariff models for waste management companies in the context of demographic change and declining waste volumes.
published in: Müll und Abfall 10/2009
Declining waste volumes threaten to render raising tariffs necessary in many german cities. The authors generate recommendations for municipal waste management companies how to secure their revenue income from a comparative analysis of tariffs models in 13 largest cities in Germany. For this purpose the authors outline and compare tariff structures in the sample to illustrate the consequences of steadily declining waste volumes on revenues given current tariffs structures. Concluding recommendations compass critical success factors for municipal waste management companies in order to make their tariff models fit for the future.
